Title:
Delta's Statement on First bag Fee
Body:
DELTA SAYS NO TO FIRST BAG FEE. American Airlines just made a dramatic announcement of a new $15 for the FIRST checked bag, and a $25 fee for the second. While many industry watchers expect other airlines to follow suit, Delta has come out early and said that while it is always open to new fee ideas, the $15 fee for the first bag will not fly for now. AirTran charges $10 for the second bag and has not added any other fees for now. We think this desperate move by AA is a sign of how far the airlines are willing to go with oil at $130 a barrel and their hard won cash reserves hemorrhaging and another round of bankruptcies on the horizon....not pretty.  But why inconvenience and further infuriate your customers with a new fee that is only going to make the situation at airport counters and security that much worse this summer? Why not just raise your fares $15?
